The GR Yaris Cup reflects automotive excellence and is more than just racing. Drivers test their boundaries, cars are tuned to their absolute best, and motorsports fans come together. It is a series of races that highlight the power and design of the GR Yaris, one of the world’s most popular rally-inspired hatchbacks.<\/p>

It is believed that the car accounts for 70% of motorsport success, and it is assumed that the outcome is directly determined by the difference in vehicle performance. One-make races challenge this common sense. In one-make races, the race is conducted under the same conditions and identical vehicles are used.<\/p>

The GR Yaris Cup is a one-make racing competition in which all ten drivers compete in identical Toyota GR Yaris cars. Every car has the same features and technology, therefore there is no technical advantage. Toyota’s World Rally Championship success inspired the development of the GR Yaris, a vehicle designed to give rally performance on the road. After continually breaking, fixing, and improving, the GR Yaris continues to advance today. The GR Yaris’s evolution is recognized as “driver-first car manufacturing” , where the car is designed based on the drivers’ perceptions and words, which are determined from precise parts’ movements of the car in concern.<\/p>

TGR fine-tuned the GR Yaris through continuous improvements, thoroughly investigating the root cause of issues by evaluating driving data, checking steering experience, and examining the type of scratches and dirt on damaged parts. TGR has created the 8-speed GAZOO Racing Direct Automatic Transmission to maximize the satisfact of a 1.6-liter inline 3-cylinder turbo engine coupled to a 4WD drivetrain, which is the foundation of the GR Yaris. This development is based on Morizo’s goal to spread the thrill of driving to as many people as possible and to broaden the scope of motorsports.
